Antigua and Barbuda
Red with a rising gold sun over black, blue and white.
History and symbolism
Designed by the artist Reginald Samuel and adopted on 27 February 1967, when Antigua became self-governing, the flag shows a rising gold sun on black over bands of blue and white, framed by red triangles. The V shape stands for victory, and the design was kept at independence in 1981.
