Belarus
Red and green bands with a red-on-white ornament at the hoist.
History and symbolism
The unequal red and green bands carry a red-on-white rushnyk ornament at the hoist, based on a 1917 pattern by Matrona Markevich and drawn from the 1951 Soviet era design. Approved by referendum in 1995, the flag was modified in 2012 with a thicker ornament.
